Track 7 - Wireless Sensor Networks
(TENTATIVE PROGRAM)

Introduction

Industrial applications of wireless sensors can also enable important advances in science. Environmental monitoring with wireless sensors networks (WSN) is of particular interest for agriculture, forestry and disaster mitigation. These low-cost sustainable technologies can work with low power and are not dependent on any existing electrical network. Once the data are collected in remote areas they have to be transmitted to a central database for processing and further analysis. A wired infrastructure to support such transmissions is not viable for technical and economical reasons. In the last couple of years we have witnessed an incredible evolution of wireless technologies that can provide a cost efficient solution to this problem.

Objective

In this workshop we will present the use of various low-cost and sustainable wireless technologies for sensing, data gathering and distribution.
