NICARAGUA ON VISAS

Presidential Decree "57-2005", published on Official Gazette No.172, on September 5, 2005, establishes to not require visa to citizen from almost every country in the world in order to enter nicaraguan territory, they only have to buy a tourist card at the airport or Border Posts. This policy pretends to open the doors to tourism and investment in Nicaragua. Presidential Decree 57-2005 establishes for purposes of visa exemption and expedition, three categories: Category "A", Category "B" and category "C".

Nationals of the following countries, included on category "C", according to their passport type, will require a consulted visa in order to enter nicaraguan territory:

  • CHINA, PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF
  • CONGO
  • CONGO, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF
  • NORTH COREA
  • CUBA
  • ETIOPIA
  • GHANA
  • HAITÍ
  • INDIA
  • INDONESIA
  • IRAK, REPUBLIC OF
  • IRÁN, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF
  • JORDAN, HACHEMITE KINGDOM OF

All listed nationalities are skipped from visa consultation process, if they have marked on their passport, residence of the United States of America, England or Canada. In these cases, the Consulate will issue the visa without further ado.

When entering Nicaragua, citizens from mentioned countries should present:

  1. Passport valid for not less than six months
  2. Return ticket to their country of origin or residence
  3. Visa on passport

Citizens from restricted nations will be exepted from this requirements, whenever they have diplomatic, official or service passports issued by their goverments within free visa agreement terms established with the Republic of Nicaragua

As well those issued by the United Nations and the American States Organization

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSULTED OR RESTRICTED VISAS

  1. Interview with the Consul
  2. Visa application letter with related information, passport number, purpose of travel, place of stay, estimated visit time in the country.
  3. Invitation letter from liable person in Nicaragua, who will be responsible during the stay of the visitor
  4. Filling a form
  5. Passport valid for not less than six months
  6. Copy of passport mainsheet and copy of american visa in case of having one
  7. If you are a resident in the place where you are requesting a visa to enter Nicaragua, a copy of the residence
  8. Submit statement or demonstrate financial solvency
  9. Pay official receipt for the value of Migrant fees $25 distributed as follows: $20 for the visa fee and $5 for the payment of the form
  10. Return ticket or travel continuity

Once a consular agent checks this documents, sends them to the nicaraguan chancellery, where corresponding procedures take place coordinated by migratory authorities.
